Rules change often and there are exceptions (reduced mobility, classic vehicles, services, residents…). Before you go, confirm on the council's website. Don't know your sticker? Work it out here.

What's coming in each city

What the bylaws and councils say about upcoming restrictions. Many dates may still change.

How we calculate it

City by city, with the bylaw in hand

  • We check each zone against its bylaw, the official gazette or the council's website. Last checked on October 16, 2026; each city links to its source.
  • “Fines apply” means the bylaw is in force and breaches are penalised; if there is no record of fines actually being issued, we say so on the city's page. “Warnings only”: there are checks, but no fines yet.
  • On the map and in the table, “can enter” is for a car from elsewhere. Tick “my car pays road tax in that city” to see the rules for residents.
  • Each city's point on the map is the centre of its filling stations (Ministry for the Ecological Transition), not the zone boundary.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Which cities have a low-emission zone?+

We've checked 66: 50 already issue fines (Madrid, Barcelona, Sevilla, Zaragoza, Palma, Bilbao…), 6 only issue warnings and 10 have it marked out or approved but don't yet restrict anything on a normal day.

Where can a car with no sticker go?+

Freely in 10 of the 66 cities (those that don't restrict yet or only restrict other stickers). In the rest it can't enter or only with conditions, unless the car is registered there in some cities.

And with the yellow B sticker?+

Today it can enter freely in 53 of the 66 cities. Several cities already have a date to restrict it: see “What's coming” for each one.

What is the fine for entering a low-emission zone?+

It's a serious offence under the Traffic Act: €200, reduced to €100 if you pay within 20 days, and no points are deducted. 48 of the 50 cities that already issue fines charge €200. Each entry can be a separate fine.

How do I know which sticker my car has?+

With the number plate, on the DGT website or the miDGT app, or with our sticker calculator. That's what the cameras read: the sticker on the windscreen changes nothing if the DGT record says otherwise.
