Privacy policy

You don't have to give us any data to use the site. We only handle your data if you write to us, and here's how.

Website
Cuánto Cuesta Mi Coche (cuantocuestamicoche.es)

For anything about your data, write to contacto@cuantocuestamicoche.es.

What data we handle and why

If you write to us through the contact form: your name, email and phone number and, if you give them, your company, a rough budget and your message. The same goes for anything you send us by email. We use them only to reply and, if you want to advertise, to put together a proposal. We don't send you marketing or add you to any list.

What your browser stores: your “Your numbers” answers, the cars you've viewed and the province you picked for petrol stations stay in your browser and never reach us. More details in the cookie policy

What we use only for what you ask and don't keep:

  • If you look up the eco sticker by number plate, our server asks the DGT. We don't store the plate: to avoid repeat lookups and limit how many are made per minute, all that's kept in memory, for a day at most, is an encrypted fingerprint of the plate and your IP that doesn't reveal what they were.
  • If you ask for a number plate report, our server sends the plate to our vehicle-data provider, RegCheck (Infinite Loop Development Ltd, Ireland), to find out which car it is and, if it's Spanish, to the DGT for its eco sticker. We don't store it: so we don't pay twice for the same lookup and to limit how many are made, all that's kept in memory, for up to 30 days, is the car's details (without the full chassis number) with an encrypted fingerprint of the plate, plus an encrypted fingerprint of your IP for an hour. The fingerprints don't reveal what they were. We never see or show the registered keeper's details.
  • If you read a listing from a screenshot, the image is read in your own browser and isn't uploaded to any server.
  • If you paste a listing link, our server opens that page to pull out the car's details.
  • If you search for garages, the search runs in your browser with OpenStreetMap data downloaded from this site: the area you type or your location never leave your browser; only the garage file for your province is requested.
  • If you ask for petrol stations near you, your location is used in your browser to pick the province and never leaves it.

Technical data: as with any website, the server that hosts it receives your IP address and browser details in order to show you the pages, and keeps them briefly in its logs for security. We don't use analytics or advertising that tracks you.

Why we're allowed to handle them

  • To reply to you, your consent when you write to us (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) and, if you ask about advertising, the pre-contractual steps you request (Art. 6(1)(b)).
  • For the server's technical logs, our legitimate interest in keeping the site working and secure (Art. 6(1)(f)).

You can withdraw your consent at any time. Anything done before then remains valid.

How long we keep them

Your messages, while we deal with your enquiry and for up to a year after our last contact. If we reach a business agreement, for as long as tax and commercial law requires. After that we delete them.

Who else handles them

Only companies that provide us with a service, under a data processing agreement:

  • Vercel Inc. (United States), which hosts the website.
  • Resend (Plus Five Five, Inc., United States), which delivers the form's email to us. We use its European Union region.
  • Our mailbox provider, where we receive and answer messages.

Where data may reach the United States, the transfer relies on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or, failing that, on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. We don't sell or pass on your data to anyone unless the law requires it.

Your rights

You can ask us to see, correct or delete your data, object to us handling it, ask us to restrict its use, or ask for a copy to take elsewhere. Write to contacto@cuantocuestamicoche.es saying what you'd like; we'll reply within the one month the law sets, and we may ask for something to confirm it's you.

If you think we haven't handled your data properly, you can complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD).

Children

If you're under 14, please don't send us your details: ask a parent or guardian to write to us.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll publish the new version here with its date.
