Why doesn't the average price match my petrol station's?+
Because it's the average of every petrol station in the province: motorway and town, branded and low-cost. The cheapest are usually well below it: today, 1 in 10 sells 95 petrol at €1,473/l or less in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

Where the data comes from
- Prices from the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge: petrol stations must report their prices to it and the Ministry publishes them on the petrol station Geoportal. From 01/01/2024 to 16/10/2026, from the daily history of its REST service; after that, from the prices in force each morning.
- Each figure is the simple average of the public-sale stations selling that fuel, not weighted by how much each one sells. We drop impossible prices (below 75% or above 135% of that province's median that day), which are usually typing mistakes.
- Today's price is this morning's; tomorrow it is replaced by the one in the Ministry's history.
- The calculations (averages, cheapest day, comparison with a year ago) are ours: the Ministry neither reviews nor endorses them.
